Default GW:EN - DirectSong Ingame Music Fix

DirectSong released an updated configuration file which enables the playback of the GW:EN soundtrack MP3s in game on Wednesday 8/29.

If you purchased the soundtrack early like I did you will not have the DirectSong versions of the music playing in game, just like I didn't when I was playing the preview. To fix this you simply need to download the new configuration file and overwrite your old file.

1) Download the new configuration file: http://www.directsong.com/zip/GuildWars_ds.zip

2) Extract the files from the zip and copy GuildWars.ds over your old version. The old file is where ever you installed the soundtrack. E:\Games\GuildWars\DirectSong in my case.

3) Play the game and enter a GW:EN area. Press F11 to bring up the option menu and select the sound tab. The bottom of the page sound have a glowing icon that says that DirectSong is playing additional content.

4) Have fun playing GW:EN.

If you have problems getting this to work simply log into the DirectSong website and rerun the GW:EN down utility. It will overwrite the files already on your computer and you won't need to reauthorize your machine if it's already has a permanent. The new configuration file will download on you should be all set.

When they released it EOTN DS Pack, the GuildWars.ds file (it's the music track / trigger) did not include any of the Eyes of the North entries.

If your an early adaptor, re-install any of the directsong packs, it will get updated as well as manually updated as above.

One of things I really wish would change if Anet distrubted this file with the standard gw updates vs having to get the file from DirectSong.

Every GW DirectSong pack intergrates in to Guildwars. This has been a past problem were people don't know to re-install or manually update that file to get / fix DS pack's.

Looking at the Directsong site, are the only 2 sound tracks that play ingame are the EoTN soundtrack and Nightfall soundtrack?

When I unzipped the file, it was compressed to one line, since all of the carriage returns were stripped out. This causes the entire playlist to be behind a comment, and fail to play in game. (Rather, all music defaults back to standard non-DS music...)

By opening and saving the file in Wordpad (Windows XP), it restored the carriage returns, and all is well.

Just an FYI for others that don't get this file to work properly...
